Just 500 metres from the Way of Saint James, Chez Gendron campsite welcomes pilgrims and holidaymakers in a family setting in Saint-Palais-de-Blaye, Gironde, near the A10 motorway between Bordeaux, Royan, Saintes and Angoulême. This small site, run by the same family for 15 years, has 46 pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes, complemented by 11 rentals: DK'bane tents, Cocosweet tents, mobile homes, chalets and tent lodges for 2 to 6 people. A pool and restaurant equip the site, and children's activities, offered in French and English, include visits to wine châteaux, hikes and bike rides. Green Key labelled since 2012 and bike-friendly, the campsite describes itself as a “place of biodiversity for fauna and flora”, open from 1 March to 15 October.
