Preserving the estate is part of these properties’ DNA: responsible forest management, late mowing to protect flora, protection of ponds and local wildlife. Many Castels serve produce from the estate or neighbouring farms — short supply chains, producer markets, tastings. This is sustainable tourism by nature, not by marketing.
Some estates pursue environmental certification (Clef Verte, the Qualité Tourisme charter). The preserved countryside, the managed forest, the waterway integrated into the estate: all arguments that justify the eco-responsible campsite label. The Castels in Saône-et-Loire, Ille-et-Vilaine or Fierbois have made preserving the estate their foremost quality.
