Camping La Frenaie

At the heart of the Marais Poitevin, between Niort and La Rochelle, in La Grève-sur-Mignon, in the Charente-Maritime, the La Frênaie eco-campsite occupies a semi-shaded 2.5-hectare meadow, bordered by the Mignon canal and its characteristic pollarded ash trees. A centre dedicated to environmental education, the site offers yurts (dormitory, family, couple) as well as camping pitches with or without electricity. Dry toilets, solar water heating and oven, rainwater harvesting and composting illustrate a firmly sustainable operation. The site deliberately preserves dead wood to host the protected rosalia longicorn beetle, and offers a nature library with observation equipment for a participatory survey of local biodiversity. Open from May to September.
