Deliberately without a pool: L’Île de Boulancourt embraces ‘slow camping’ and reconnecting with nature, nestled within a Natura 2000 zone on the banks of the Essonne river, an hour south of Paris and fifteen minutes from the Fontainebleau forest. This Clef Verte-awarded three-star site has a maximum of 110 pitches, with mobile homes named L’Écureuil, Le Hérisson, Le Cygne, Le Rouge-Gorge and Le Pivert, as well as nature-style accommodation such as the Paris and Fontainebleau chalets or the La Dame Jouanne lodge. Specialising in climbing in the Fontainebleau forest, eighteen minutes from the boulders, the site rents out fifty crash pads and offers bike rental, a trampoline, table tennis and pétanque. Water consumption is capped at 75 litres per night; neither stag nor hen parties are admitted, in the Seine-et-Marne.
